B. Braun's Environmental Credentials
B. Braun relies on renewable energies from geothermal, wind, solar/photovoltaic and hydro or biomass power plants
In Milan, B. Braun reduced its energy consumption by 119,000 kilowatt hours in 2018 by establishing a grass-covered roof. In the first two years, the low energy consumption resulted in emission reductions of around 48 tonnes of CO2
B. Braun obtains most of the water for its production and products from public companies and private suppliers, however it also operates its own deep wells at individual sites. Water consumption data is continuously analysed based on data. Strict waste water disposal regulations ensure that contamination of groundwater is prevented. In 2019, B. Braun returned a total of 72% of its water intake to the respective water systems
B. Braun’s packaging material consists mainly of corrugated cardboard and paper which is highly recyclable. The environmental-friendly packaging material is not made with PVC which results in several recycling advantages
B. Braun's distribution logistics is characterised by optimal design of transport routes with maximum utilisation of cargo space through energy-efficient means of transport for a minimised carbon footprint
Return transports are increasingly used for part of the procurement transports in order to avoid empty runs
The relocation of B. Braun’s logistics centre in Scandinavia resulted in savings of 1.2 million truck kilometers in one year. In 2019, B. Braun saved about 240 kilotonnes of CO2.
Following their continuous improvement philosophy, B. Braun ameliorate their production processes and product designs to ensure the lowest possible use of necessary raw materials
Wherever possible, B. Braun replaces hazardous substances in the production process and product design
